Vacuum regularly with the hard attachment of your vacuum. Refrain from using a beater brush. Spills should be cleaned as soon as possible. Spot cleaning with non-bleach detergent is fine. For deep cleaning, we recommend professional cleaning. All rugs lay flat when they leave the factory. When the rug is new, let it flatten before use. Work out wrinkles using your hands or a pole (the carpet tube works well too). Once the rug is flat, we recommend a rug pad for longer wear. Occasionally sprouts will appear in your rug. These are a natural by-product of the traditional method that Homespice uses to make their braided rugs. Simply use a sharp pair of scissors and trim the sprout even with the rug. Braided rugs are stitched together using extra strong thread. Should the threads get damaged or cut, the braids may start to separate. We recommend sewing the braids together with a needle and thread. If left unattended, this separation will grow.
Couristan Mirage Utopia/Spruce Rug Size: 2′ 3″ x 3′ 11″Become enchanted with the Mirage collection. Inspired by unique, transitional designs, the combination of deep, rich colors and intricate patterns creates a rug of exceptional beauty and brilliance. While most rugs are woven from top to bottom, fringe to fringe, Mirage rugs are “cross-woven” or woven sideways, on Wilton looms. This technique allows for the use of up to 24 colors creating ultra fine detail and a beautiful “abrash” effect. These subtle color variations commonly found in handmade rugs are a direct result of cross-weaving. Mirage’s lush fringe is not added or sewn on, but is actually a continuation of the strong backing yarn of the rug, subsequently all Mirage rugs are hand finished. A unique drop stitch effect and multi-point weaving add to the texture and dense pile that is characteristic of this 100% New Zealand semi-worsted wool area rug collection. Let the mystique of the Mirage collection transform everyday rooms into magical places. Features: -Power-loomed in Belgium with 100% New Zealand semi-worsted wool pile -Cross-woven on Wilton looms to increase use of color and create ultra fine detail -Lush fringe reflects continuation of the strong, backing yarn of the rug -Unique drop-stitch effect and multi-point weaving for added texture to dense pile -Primarily spruce featuring apricot, navy, rust and terra-cotta accents -Available in the following sizes: 2′3″ x 3′11″, 3′11″ x 5′7″, 5′7″ x 8′2″, 6′6″ x 9′8″, 7′10″ x 11′6″, Runner 2′8″ x 8′2″ Category/Decorating Tip: Modern Classic - This collection of area rugs is rich in texture and color. In choosing fabric let the palette of the rug be your guide. Don’t be afraid to mix patterns with them, patterns only enhance the total look of the room. In a contemporary setting, you may want to try adding leather or suede. Textured fabrics with a lot of surface interesting solids or jacquard patterns would also be a good choice. Note: Please be aware that actual colors may vary from those shown on your screen. Accent rugs may also not show the entire pattern that the corresponding area rugs have. Additionally, rugs 8′ x 10′ and larger may ship Truck Freight. About Couristan For over 75 years Couristan, Inc. has been a powerful name in the area rug and broadloom industry. Owned by the Couri family for two generations and operated today by brothers George G. Couri, Chairman and Ron J. Couri, CEO and President, the company prides itself on having the most exquisite handmade and power-loomed floor coverings available from anywhere around the world. Founded in 1926 by brothers Basil J. Couri and George J. Couri, and appropriately named “Couri Brothers,” the company began its humble beginnings by importing fine handmade area rugs from Persia. According to Ron Couri, Couristan’s CEO and President, importing area rugs from Persia was a difficult task. “I remember listening to my father and uncle’s travel stories. First they took a ship to England, then another to the continent. Once in Europe they took the Orient Express and then drove through the desert to Persia. They finally arrived 32 days later. It was quite an adventure.” The first area rugs imported by the company were a few shipments of Sparta Rugs from Smyrna. At the time, the company began affixing “Couristan” trademark labels to the back of each and every rug it imported. This mark was composed from the family’s surname “Couri” and the frequently used suffix “stan”, referring to the region of small weaving villages in which the company imported its rugs from. The company would quickly begin to broaden its horizons, as well as its area rug offerings by importing rugs from India in 1927. In the 1930’s, Couristan began importing handmade hooked rugs from China and braided rugs from Japan. At the time nearly 99 percent of the total production of Japan’s floor coverings were being exported to the United States. Accord
